Received “The Gandhi Peace Prize Award-2000” from H.E. Honorable President, Republic of India, Mr. R.K. Narayanan on March 16, 2001, New Delhi, India on behalf of Grameen Bank.

Attended the historical & prestigious Nobel Peace Prize 2006 giving ceremony in Oslo.

Norway and Sweden on December 10, 2006, as a representative of Grameen Bank.

  1. “European Solar Prize 2006” (to Dipal Chandra Barua, Managing Director, Grameen Shakti) in the category: “Special prize for Non-European cooperation, for contribution to women education through renewable energy technologies (the brainchild of Mr. Barua) in Berlin, Germany on December 8, 2006.
  2. Received ‘Best organization & Outstanding Contribution to the success of Solar Home System Program in Bangladesh 2005’. The award received from H.E. Begum Khaleda Zia, Prime Minister, The Peoples Republic of Bangladesh on 2005 on ceremony of 50,000 Solar Home System installed.
  3. Mozlum Jano Neta Moulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani Gold Medal 2008′ from Bhashani Manch, Bangladesh.
  4. For his innovation and commitment to alternative energy Mr. Barua awarded the First Zayed Sustainability Prize 2009 from Abu Dhabi, UAE as the first winner of the Prize since its introduction by Abu Dhabi Government, UAE. He has set up a Scholarship Fund with his Zayed Future Energy Prize award money to expand and create 100,000 Green Energy Women Entrepreneurs by 2020.
  5. For Dipal Barua’s relentless effort and unparalleled contribution to the success of Grameen Shakti, the organization was able to achieve in his honor – `The Energy Globe Award 2002′ from Austria.
  6. Received “Best Theme Award 2003” from USAID in September 2003. It is recognition for Grameen Shakti’s successful program on awareness building of renewable energy.
  7. “EUROSOLAR Prize 2003” in Berlin from EUROSOLAR organization on November 30 to December 05. This is the most prestigious award in Europe for work in the field of renewable energy and was the first time to be honored outside Europe for outstanding performance of Grameen Shakti, under the guidance of Dipal C. Barua, in the field of renewable energy.
  8. “Solar Prize 2004” from IDCOL for best performer (Grameen Shakti) in the field of Solar Home System promotion in Bangladesh on November 2004.
  9. “Ashden Awards for Sustainable Energy 2006” from London, UK on June 15, 2006. This was one of the most prestigious awards received by Dipal C. Barua from Lord May of Oxford at Royal Geographical Society, London. HRH Prince Charles is the sponsor of the Ashden Awards.
  10. The Tech Museum Award 2007′ in the Equality Category to Grameen Shakti from Sanjose, California, USA on Nov 07, 2007.
  11. Received ‘The Right Livelihood Award 2007 (Alternative Nobel Prize)’ from Swedish Parliament, Stockholm, Sweden to Grameen Shakti for the organization’s outstanding performance under the active leadership of Dipal C. Barua on Dec 07, 2007.
  12. Energy Globe Award 2008′ from Brussels. The Ashden Outstanding Achievement Awards 2008′ from London, UK to Grameen Shakti on 14-21 June 2008
